Now in Seminyak my last stop
Visit of Sasak village
As I had a lt of time before my plane we stopped, on the way to the airport, to see a typical sasak village, the original people in Lombok. ..
Visiting the beaches close to Kuta
This morning I actually went on a little visit... I went to visit the nearby beaches on a motorbike with a spanish girl that I met in the hotel.
First a couple of lines on this person. They are a couple of surfers from Santander (north of Spain) which I met on the first day. I sat in the restaurant having a wonderful burguer, much deserved after days and days of asian food... and I heard them wispering and looking at my burguer longingly. As they were talking in Spanish they we not quite wispering, more like talking out loud, which is what you do when you think no one understands you anyway, so I though it prudent to let them know I was also spanish before they said something they would later regret... :)
My next encounter with the girl was also interesting as we met in the spa. I was all spaced out after a massage; she was going into get her hair treated after the hotel swimming pool had turned it green...
So, as I was saying, she offered to take me to some of the other beaches that are close by while her boyfriend went to some world renowned wave (desert point?).
The south of Lombok is made of a number of coves, one after the other, all of them aparently very good for surfing appart from being remote and mostly empty lovely beaches... the trip was really nice, even if the road gave us a thorough butt massage. The motorbike gives you the freedom of going from one place to the other quickly, so we stoped and continued a few times. I also found out a bit about the surfing, with a lot of different types of waves and little boats that take you to were the waves are, which are not actually at the beach as I thought up to this point... all in all a very nice unexpected experience! !

Google Statistics for Majaleles en Bali
That shows the countries from where the blog is being seen... I can see Spain and the UK, thank you all!! What is more surprising however is that I have visits from: Ucrania? Korea? the US??
Also, since my numbers are low I can almost make out which one is which, for example, I have a BlackBerry 10... who would that be Villita?? :) Mind you, it could also be one of the kids in Ucrania....
My life in Lombok
And can I say I love it? I get so stressed trying to do the thing I should be doing and seeing the things I should be seeing, that I would normally end up going home and feeling all relax for going home. And the I would realise that, sh*$!!! I have to work tomorrow!! So here I am in this place in the very south of Lombok, in this hotel with spa with bar with 2 restaurants with fitness center and over all with beach, and I havent (and do not plan to) set a foot outside from it... yep, there are times when I feel slightly guilty about not trying to learn to surf, and not visiting mount Rinjani etc. etc. but I actually think that I am finally doing what I am meant to be doing. Again: nothing!
So my days go like this:
- wake up, at around 9 ish
- have buffet breakfast of some unhealthy thing or other, like a crepe drown in maple syrup. I do try to through some fruit on top, just for the shake of appearing healthy... have my few cups of tea...
- go to the beach. Get my towels, set my camp in on o the little tent/houses that allow you to be covered from the sun (vital if you tend to look more like a lobster than a coconut...).
- read/stare into infinity (watch shit as a friend of mine says) for hours
- go for the odd stroll, snorkell (although there is not much to see around here... the Gili islands were amazing for that), listen to little girls/boys trying to sell us bracelets... this last thing is actually something quite interesting... the cheekyness of them!
- ocasional nap... sorry, siesta!
- go for a massage. So far I have had 2. A sasak massage and today a hot stone massage, where they actually put very hot stones on you.... quite cool actually!
- when the sun is setting go to the room and have a shower. Then proceed to the bar to have a mojito and listen to the entertainment band of 4 guys with a couple of guitar and some stranger instruments. Dinner is then either in the bar or in the restaurant. Today it was indonesian food buffet... very nice!
- go to the room to talk to family, check internet in various ways, and watch a bit of homeland (pretty damn good series, I am very impressed! thanks David!).
- go to sleep, and repeat for a few days.... :)

Going to Kuta in Lombok
Here is a picture of me and my driver, quite a nice and funny guy, on the way to Kuta.
The island
Every single one of them has a "terrace" of chairs and little huts where you can lie down and have a drink/food in front of the sea!
The weather was interesting. This island is very close to Lombok mainland, and in Lombok the rain season is already on... So in the morning the weather was ok but as the day went by you could see clouds forming over Lomboks volcano (Mount Rinjani)... And the clouds soon came over us...
Another pretty good sight is the one with Gile Meno, another one of the Gili islands...
My place in Gili AIr
And the front of my "house"...

Gili air island
I am now in the little island of Gili Air. This islands belong to Lombok (an island almost the size of Bali that sits to its east). There are three of them and seem to be very touristy. Right now Gili Air does not have that much people as it is low season here. It is funny because the island is small and I keep on seeing the same people around again and again... I came yesterday, by boat from Bali, 3 hours. After disembarking, and checking in the hotel, I went for a walk around the island. And when I say around I mean literally around the whole island, it must have taken at most a couple of hours.
It is amazing though. The beaches are very decent, and every cafe/bar/restaurant has a few chairs right next to the beach so that you sit 3 meters from the water. It is quite relaxing really. Plus there is not that much to do, so....
The main attraction is the sea. I hired snorkel mask and fins and have been snorkeling around, seeing millions of little (and not so little) fish. I even saw a turtle. Now she was not small... it was even a bit scary.
I also thought about trying diving but then freaked out and gave up...
And shockingly enough, I have also found a pretty nice place to do yoga!!!!
All and all this place is one in which I would not mind staying. My days consist of walkung in the beach, breakfast next to the beach, snorkelling, eating nice food (next to the sea, I just had a fat grilled prawn for 2 pounds...), walking some more... not bad hey??
