So, here I am in Ubus. The hotel I picked up is quite alright. I have taken a couple of pictures here. It is like a tiny bungallow (that means around the same size as my flat in London...).
There are only a couple of issues, the main one being that there is a fair amount of noise from:
1) the temple next door where they have the balinese dancing (like in the pics I posted before)
2) the cockerels (roosters?), that wake me up every morning at around 5 ish when they start going crazy...
I have yet to be stung by any mosquito or equivalent (I have my super mosquito repellent device, battery powered, on every night...) and the only other animal I have seen are a few little lizzard around my porch... so all is well.
The staff are very nice and every single time they say "Hello!!" with a lot of enthusiasm, and "where are you from?". This happens a lot over here... This of course normally leads to... "Real Madrid!!" (yes, you have heard that right, Real Madrid, not Barcelona.... Barcelona baaaaadd) and "Gareth Bale!" (???). :)
The next question normally is "what are you doing now?" and "what are you doing tomorrow?" and then a few proposals on their side. These people are always trying to sell you stuff to do, it is amazing! WHich mind you, given my organisation skills it suits me just fine... Without trying I have arranged a tour of the temples around Ubud, a cycing tour (this one I certainly didnt have planned and the boat to et to the Gili ISlands (my next stop...).
I have also a little swimmingpool and get breakfast in a communal outside type of place, all very cute. Of course I eat banana pancake eeeveryday...
